The Falcon Scavenger Hunt
There are 20 cement falcons, each 20 inches tall hidden in various locations around Spartanburg County. Stop in at any Library location to pick up your game card with a list of clues. Locate at least 15 falcons, fill in your game card and return it to a Library and enter your name in the drawing. The scavenger hunt lasts from October 4 until October 28. On October 31 each Library location will draw one name to win a $25 Barnes and Noble gift card. This drawing is for SCPL library card holders in good standing.
The Falcon Auction
There will be a silent auction of the painted falcons at the final Big Read program on Saturday, November 1 at 1 p.m. The proceeds from this auction will support the COLORS program of Spartanburg. COLORS Inner-City Youth Art Studio is an outreach program of the Spartanburg Art Museum, which gives at-risk youth ages 6–18, the opportunity to experience high-quality art instruction in a safe environment during the critical after-school hours, free of charge. Professional-grade materials are used and the instructors are professional artists. COLORS gives students a vehicle to express themselves in a healthy manner with caring adults at their side. You may view the painted falcons prior to the auction on the main level of the Headquarters Library from October 30 through November 1. Cash, check and charge cards will be accepted.
